Thailand (2014)

Our first stop was the North of Thailand. Here we stayed in a beautiful community focused place that was south-west of Chiang Mai in the mountains at Mae Wang. We stayed 2 nights at 'Spicy Villas' and 1 night in a local Karen Village after a full day of trekking.

One of the very special times in the North was being able to deliver some supplies (books, pencils, stickers etc.) to a local school.

Sukhothai

Sukhothai in north central Thailand was our next destination. We spent a few fantastic days just exploring the area at our own pace, helped by the fact that we had hired a scooter.

One of my favourite meals of the trip was at a little family run restaurant that we had found somewhat by mistake, we had actually ridden to the next town for the evening and had no idea where we were going. The restaurant was down a little dark alleyway next to the river, the perfect spot to enjoy our fresh seafood dinner!

Si Satchanalai

A brilliant day trip out of Sukhothai was to Si Satchanalai another historical site. I loved this place because we were the only people here and it really helped me absorb the atmosphere and added to the sense of adventure.

Koh Tao

After the north, it was time for the beach and our destination was Koh Tao. It was a mammoth trip from the north but when we arrived at our stunning bungalow perched on the side of the hill, the troubles of the road disappeared. I soon had to become an expert at 'off-road scootering' as we were staying in a more remote area of the island and the roads, well they were not really roads.

Yes that is me having a little jump!

Koh Samui

Our last stop was Koh Samui, which was certainly the most touristic place that we had visited. But again we hired a scooter for our stay which gave us the freedom to explore the island. We were amazed at how untouched the inland areas were and enjoyed the feeling of isolation.
